Hire Terms and Conditions

We hope you enjoy playing the instrument you are hiring.

  1. The instrument will remain the property of Alan Williams and Theodota Williams, Luthiers & Owners of StringInstrumentsHire.com. This contract may be signed by either of us individually on behalf of our partnership.
  2. The instrument is for your sole use and pleasure and may not be sold, leased, hired or lent to another party to deal or dispose of the instrument.
  3. If the instrument is damaged in your care please report this to us immediately and do not try to repair it yourself or take it to another person to repair. Often what may seem like a disaster can be easily fixed. Where damage is easily fixed there will be no charge if the hire agreement is in effect.
  4. We will provide strings on the instrument initially. You may change the strings to strings of your own choice however you would be liable for the full cost of the strings (which you would of course own). You would also need to keep our strings for when the instrument is returned. If you purchase new strings from us we would change them at no charge other than the cost of the strings.
  5. A £45 excess charge will be payable should the instrument be damaged or stolen in your care. This does not include general wear, or tiny knocks.
  6. The instrument must not be left unattended in a vehicle otherwise you will be liable for the buy it now cost (or less at our discretion) of the instrument if it is stolen. The buy it now price will be listed in your documents when you hire your instrument.
  7. You may arrange to have the instrument covered under your own insurance. If the instrument is stolen you must report it immediately to the police and us and provide a copy of the police report.
  8. An initial charge of three months rental is payable on entering into the agreement, thereafter payments to be made on the following first day of each month by standing order.
  9. Late payments (unless due to bank holiday / weekend) will incur an additional fee of £20 per month.
  10. If the payment is not made within 14 days of the 1st of the month this agreement is terminated and you will be required to return the instrument immediately. Please contact us if there are any extenuating reasons why payment cannot be made at the time but you want to keep the instrument. Any variations to this agreement would then be confirmed by us in writing.
  11. If payment is not made within 1 calendar month of the instrument rental being due and it has not been returned then you will become liable in full for the buy it now cost of the instrument.
  12. To terminate the agreement please provide at least 14 days notice in writing, includes email.
  13. These terms and conditions are subject to English law and the courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any dispute arising out of or in connection with this agreement.
